Dr. Sinha is the Chairman and CEO of Sunpreme. For fifteen years, he served in various roles at Applied Materials, culminating in his roles as Sr.VP & GM for $6B Silicon Business sector. Prior to Applied, he worked for 20 years at AT&T Bell Laboratories where he served as Head of the VLSI Process Technology and Fabrication departments at Murray Hill, NJ and Allentown, PA. He also served as Vice President of Manufacturing Technology Development in SEMATECH, a non-profit research and development consortium. Dr. Sinha has served on the Board of Asyst Corp, the Tech Museum of San Jose, and as an independent board member of Dune Networks, an Israeli Networking Company sold to Broadcom.
Dr. Sinha received the Thomas C. Callinan award from the Electrochemical Society for outstanding contribution to dielectric and insulation science, and the Clinton J. Davisson trophy for a “patented invention, which was of significant importance to AT&T’s commercial success.” He holds over 80 issued US patents. He was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for contributions to interconnect technology for semiconductor devices. And he received the Distinguished Alumni Award medal from the Indian Institute of Science.
Dr. Sinha earned his Bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, and holds a Doctorate in Materials Science from the University of Oxford, England. Subsequently he worked as a Research Fellow at the California Institute of Technology.
Joseph Bach is a co-founder of Sunpreme, having worked with Mr. Sinha on developing Sunpreme’s Smart Silicon® technology. He presently advises Sunpreme with respect to business development, legal matters, and protection of Sunpreme’s intellectual property.
Joseph currently practices intellectual property law as a partner at the Silicon Valley office of Womble Carlyle, where he works with high tech companies ranging from startups to listed international companies to build strategic IP portfolios, negotiate transactions, and defend clients in patent litigationhigh tech companies ranging from startups to listed international companies to build strategic IP portfolios, negotiate and complete IP purchase and licensing transactions, and defend clients in litigation. Joseph’s areas of technical experience include materials, semiconductor fabrication equipment and processes, light and particle optics and instruments, chip testing and debugging, solar technologies, wired and wireless communications, computing and mobile software and hardware, sensor devices, and automotive. Previously Mr. Bach spent almost a decade at Applied Materials, working with diverse product groups such as automation (Synexis), etch, ion implant, inspection and metrology, and others.
Joseph Studied Materials Science at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena and law at Duke University. He is also a graduate of the AeA/Stanford Executive Institute at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Executive Vice President,
Global Business Development, System Products and Quality & Reliability
Mr. Bedi serves as Executive Vice President for Sunpreme responsible for overseeing Global Business Development, System products and Quality and Reliability. Prior to joining Sunpreme, he served SunPower Corporation for 5 Years as Vice President of Quality and Customer Satisfaction Worldwide. At SunPower, he led and deployed preventive quality systems that is considered best-in-class in solar PV industry while enabling high level of Customer Satisfaction. Previously, he held the position of Vice President for Applied Materials driving Quality & Reliability worldwide, and served as the chairman of their quality steering board. During his 10 Year tenure at Applied Materials, he was instrumental in helping the company achieve numerous customer awards. Earlier in his career, Mr. Bedi held engineering and management positions at Digital Equipment Corp. and National Semiconductor Corp.
A 25 Year veteran in the Semiconductor and Solar PV industry, he has successfully planned, developed and implemented product development, and driving manufacturing excellence and customer satisfaction initiatives that addressed business opportunities.
Mr. Bedi earned a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bangalore University, India, and a MS degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Ohio University, US, and is a graduate of executive training from Stanford University, US. Mr. Bedi is four-time recipient of Applied Materials President Annual Quality Award and Intel Quality Award. He was named the distinguished Sikh Executive in Northern California, and also recipient of prestigious 2010 Philippines National State Quality Award for exemplary operational and product performance. He served as a Board of Director to SolarTech — an initiative of Silicon Valley Initiative Group focused on Solar PV Industry.
Mr. Bedi holds 12 technology patents from the semiconductor equipment industry, and a senior member of ASQ (American Society for Quality) and IISE (Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers). He has a passion for excellence and teaching design quality and reliability systems, and advancing Solar PV technologies globally.
President Sunpreme China
Dr. Bo Li has been President Sunpreme China since March 2016. Prior to Sunpreme, Dr. Li was the General Manager for Solar Cell Business at SunEdison, where he was responsible for high performance solar cell in mass scale to support the multi Gw downstream project with competitive LCOE. During his tenure at SunEdison, Dr. Li structured various global business partnerships and pioneered the introduction in scale for new cell technologies including PERC and HIT to the industry. Dr. Li started his solar career in 2005 as Technical Manager/Technologist Principal at SunPower, where he built a world class technology team at its Silicon Valley Research and Development Center and developed cost effective high efficiency IBC cell and module. Cell and module from SunPower have the highest performance in the industry today and for the foreseeable future. Prior to SunPower, Dr. Li was with Honeywell in the semiconductor industry, where he developed many advanced semiconductor materials for the chip industry. He introduced his signature product Sacrificial Light Absorbing Materials (SLAM) as a bottom antireflective coating that enables EUV lithography and beyond from concept to commercialization in 2003. It has been used by customers such as Intel for manufacturing Pentium chips and beyond ever since, leading to a total sales of over $1.4B. Dr. Li has over 30 patents and patent applications in the area of solar technology and semiconductor materials. Dr. Li received his Ph. D. degree in Polymer Science at the University of Akron, where the Polymer program ranked top 2 in the world. He earned his B. S. degree in Materials Science & Engineering at the University of Science and Technology of China.
Dr. Farhad Moghadam serves as Sunpreme’s CTO. He is an executive with more than 33 years of international experience. Participated in several technology market, solar Energy, (Ascent Solar, a public company), Capital Equipment for Semiconductor (Applied Materials), and Integrated Circuit process technology Development (Intel). He is a proven Leader and keen ability as a strategic thinker to identify emerging market needs. He also established a strong track record of delivering profitability, recruiting global teams, developing differentiating products and serving as a change agent to revitalize business.
Dr. Moghadam currently holds 65 patents in the area of integrated circuits and has more than 250 publications in various technical journals and periodicals. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in metallurgy from Tehran University. He earned both his masters and doctorate degrees in materials science and engineering from Stanford University in 1979 and 1981, respectively.
Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Kapur serves as the CSO at Sunpreme where his responsibilities entail driving Sunpreme’s disruptive next-Gen product. Prior to joining Sunpreme, Dr. Kapur was Vice President of Engineering at Solexel, an innovative PV start-up company. In this role, he led the conception and successful execution of a highly innovative, multi-faceted engineering roadmap as well as the transfer of Gen-1 product from R&D to 25MW high volume pilot manufacturing. As the second employee at Solexel, he had the pleasure of building strong R&D and technology transfer teams and leaders across design, process development, yield, and tool engineering. Dr. Kapur also served as a consulting Professor in the EE department at Stanford University, where he co-guided five PhD students in the semiconductor and PV areas.
Dr. Kapur brings more than 20 years of experience in PV, semiconductors, and photonics areas and holds 35 patents, has published more than 60 research papers, and two books chapters. He has given more than 15 invited talks around the world, and was also invited to serve on the North America planning committee of the IEEE international conference on interconnects.
Dr. Kapur holds a BS degree with double majors in Mathematics and Physics from Moravian College, where he graduated at the top of the class. He received MS and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, where he later also served as a Research Scholar.
Pauline Lee joined Sunpreme in December 2017 as Corporate Controller. As the company’s principal accounting officer, she is responsible for financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting policy across Sunpreme’s global operations.
Pauline has over 25 years of Finance experience in high-tech manufacturing industry. Prior to Sunpreme, Pauline served four years as the Controller for the Logic Business Line at NXP Semiconductor and later assumed the additional role as the America’s Country Controller when the business spinoff to Nexperia. During this time, she drove the business to double profitability growth within two years despite the business facing capacity constraint. Previously, she worked at Excelics Semiconductor, a startup company, as Corporate Controller. During the 10 year at Excelics, she managed all finance, accounting and human resources functions to ensure Company’s compliance to all government regulations. Ms. Lee started her career at National Semiconductor where she held numerous Controller and management positions in the Company.
Pauline earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from University of California at Berkeley and brings a wealth of financial experience and strong leadership to the Sunpreme Management Team.
Advisor to CEO
Dr. Moris Kori joined Sunpreme in April 2017 in the capacity of Advisor to the CEO and later assumed the role of Chief Strategy Officer. Prior to Sunpreme, Dr. Kori was CEO of Luminescent Technologies, a computational lithography and inspection pioneer, until the company’s acquisition by KLA-Tencor in 2014. Dr. Kori brings to Sunpreme a wealth of experience and success record in leading hardware and software businesses in the semiconductor manufacturing industry, including 16 years at Applied Materials where he served as Chief Marketing Officer, Business Group General Manager and President of the company’s Mask Manufacturing Products subsidiary.
Dr. Kori holds a PhD from Yale University, an MBA from Stanford University, and is a co-inventor on 21 patents. Moris started his career as a research scientist in General Electric Company before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area where he has worked and lived since.
Sr VP, Corporate Development
Dr. Rohini Raghunathan joined Sunpreme in 2017 and brings over 20 years of experience in Corporate and Product Development in the semiconductor and solar sectors. Most recently she founded EVoluŠun, a startup commercializing solar based EV charging solution. Prior to founding EVoluŠun, she headed the technology M&A group at SunEdison, where she was responsible for over $4 billion in transactions and instrumental in enabling the company’s entry into key market segments like residential solar and wind. Prior to that she developed semiconductor chips for automotive applications at TI. She has a BS in Materials Science from IIT, Chennai, Ph. D in EE from North Carolina State University and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. She has over 16 publications in renowned journals like IEEE Electron Device Letters, Solid State Electronics & Journal of Applied Physics and has co-authored “Microelectronics Failure Analysis Desk Ref. 4th Edition”.
